Description
American diversity of sound: Daniil Trifonov's My American Story: North
With My American Story: North, Daniil Trifonov embarks on a personal musical journey through the diversity of North American piano music. The album brings together works by composers such as George Gershwin, Mason Bates, John Adams, Aaron Copland, John Cage and others, representing different facets of the American musical tradition. Two piano concertos form the centerpiece of the album: Gershwin's popular Concerto in F and the Piano Concerto by Mason Bates, composed especially for Trifonov, both accompanied by the Philadelphia Orchestra under the direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. The program is complemented by solo works, including Trifonov's own transcriptions of jazz classics such as "I Cover the Waterfront" by Art Tatum and "When I Fall in Love" in the version by Bill Evans. Film music pieces such as "Memphis Stomp" from The Firm and the theme from American Beauty also find their place, as does John Cage's iconic "4'33" in two versions.Details
