When Suzuki began producing signature models for its star harmonica player Grégoire Maret, he declared: "Above all, I want a nice dark sound." This was the starting signal for the development of the G-48. The dark sound was tried to be achieved in all stages of production. Grégoire himself contributed many ideas, including the materials to be used, the colors, the tolerance of the reeds and other aspects of these almost magical instruments. After many failed attempts, Suzuki finally succeeded in bringing the spirit of Maret's ideas to every detail in the G-48 and G-48W series models.
