Froberger Suiten für Cembalo

Froberger is no longer considered the founder of the piano suite. Nevertheless, his suites for harpsichord undoubtedly had a great influence on the development of this genre. His programmatic suites, some of which are autobiographical in character, achieved particular fame. Others are entitled "Tombeau" or "Méditation" in reference to his own imminent death. All the suites are now published for the first time in the Urtext in one volume - an unprecedented compendium of Froberger's art, edited by harpsichordist Pieter Dirksen. A must not only for Froberger fans and harpsichordists, but also for pianists who want to explore this repertoire on piano keys.
