This impressive 2 m subbass recorder is best played standing up, as it is then easier to grasp. The instrument requires a lot of air at medium blowing pressure for the strong low register with a clear high register and is therefore very versatile in ensemble or solo playing. The surface is stained and varnished, the inside with a wide bore is treated with kerosene.

The blowpipe lies directly above the windway, so the high register sounds clear. Noise can be added by turning the cap sideways. The base and lower middle section are firmly attached. The flaps of the right hand are thus in one piece and work quietly.
