Description
If the normal clarinet bell is pulled out to adjust the intonation, the vibrations from the mouthpiece are only transmitted to the clarinet in a damped form, as the only remaining connection is the tenon cork. This creates a cavity on the inside and a gap on the outside. The aim of Paulus & Schuler was to develop a clarinet barrel that opens up new dimensions in terms of sound and at the same time eliminates the aforementioned problems.
The new development enables a previously unknown brilliance of sound. The zoom bulb represents a symbiosis of improved sound characteristics and reproducible voicing. As the new zoom bulb has a continuous bore in every length setting and is not interrupted on the outside, improvements have been achieved that were previously unimaginable.
Tuning settings are precisely adjustable and visible via an adjusting ring with a scale. Turning the adjusting ring allows the barrel to move apart without changing the axial alignment.
The barrel is manufactured using state-of-the-art CNC turning technology and extended with the adjusting ring for intonation adjustment without the mouthpiece or the clarinet twisting in relation to each other.
Developed and useful for clarinettists in the solo, symphonic and chamber music fields as well as for wind orchestras.
