The sides and back of all Martin X-Series models are made of HPL (high-pressure laminate). This sustainable material is manufactured by bonding multiple layers of a special paper with a synthetic resin under high pressure. The resulting material has excellent acoustic properties and is extremely durable. Combined with its low cost, this makes HPL the perfect material for Martin’s entry-level models, which is why Martin has been using it since the 1990s. 

All X-Series models that come factory-equipped with a pickup feature a Martin E-1 system. 

Another change in all new X-Series models is improved playability. The fingerboard is thinner, the fingerboard edges are gently rounded, and the string spacing has been optimized; the bridge cutout has been modernized for a smooth, comfortable playing experience.

Cocobolo is a very beautiful wood, easily recognizable by its dark base color with light, yellowish contrasting areas. This magnificent look is now also available to X-Series enthusiasts as an HPL finish, specifically in the form of this GPC-X2E Cocobolo. The top is made of solid spruce, which guarantees a rich sound. The neck, fingerboard, and bridge are made of select hardwoods.
