It took a lot of experience and research that finally raised the Starclassic series to a new level, with Tama re-examining every detail to increase the shell resonance, among other things. Walnut wood has long been favored by furniture makers for its beauty and stability. As a drum shell material, the natural sound brings a drum sound that many drummers love to use both on stage and in the studio. The STAR Walnut shells produce a rich bass with enough punch to be audible in any mix.

STAR Walnut Shells
6-ply (TT/FT/SD) and 7-ply (BD) walnut shells with the typical warm drum sound and rounded, slightly inwardly offset bearing edges for optimum transmission of the vibration from the head to the shell.
Super Resonant Mounting System
Three-point cantilever suspension for maximum sound with absolute stability, both in horizontal and strongly inclined positioning of the tom.
Quick-Lock tom holder
The new, two-part Quick-Lock holder on the Star-Cast mount and the floor tom legs allow the toms to be attached and detached quickly while maintaining the same position. All parts have rubber padding to keep the tom as free-swinging as possible.
Bass Drum Spurs
New two-piece construction with soft, heavy rubber feet and rubber-mounted, extendable spikes to ensure the stability of the bass drum with optimum shell resonance.
Minimal shell contact of the hardware
All hardware elements attached directly to the shell have been optimized to maximize the resonance and sound of the shells. The lugs feature a lightweight bridge construction for minimal shell contact.
Floor Tom legs
The tips of the rubber feet feature a special, hollow and soft rubber construction that cushions the impact in a natural way and does not affect sustain or resonance.
Cast hoops with Hold Tight Washers
The specially shaped Zinc cast hoops provide a brighter attack, slightly more projection and a more powerful sound. Together with the rubber-backed Hold Tight Washers (washers), they ensure longer tuning stability of the shells.
REMO USA heads
All TAMA STAR Walnut drums come with Remo USA heads. Coated Ambassador for toms and floor toms batter side, Clear Ambassador for the resonance side.
Coated Powerstroke 3 for the bass drum batter side and a Fiberskyn Powerstroke 3 Diplomat with TAMA logo on the front.
