ZOLTÁN KODÁLY (1882-1967) hinterließ als Komponist, Pädagoge und Ethnomusikologe gleichermaßen ein bedeutendes Lebenswerk: Er war einer der einflussreichsten Figuren der ungarischen Musik des 20. Jahrhunderts. Mit seinen über 130 A-Cappella-Chorwerken gilt er als Begründer der modernen ungarischen Chorliteratur.

Die Chorwerke Kodálys sind in drei Bände gesammelt erschienen:

Chöre für Kinder- und Frauenstimmen (Z. 6724)

Gemischte Chöre (Z. 6725)

Männerchöre (Z. 6726)

Die vorliegende erweiterte und revidierte Ausgabe der Chöre für Kinder- und Frauenstimmen enthält 59 Kompositionen, von denen drei in den früheren Ausgaben nicht erhalten waren. Die bisher vollständigste und authentischste Ausgabe der Chöre für Kinder- und Frauenstimmen erscheint mit gut lesbarer, auf einheitliche Prinzipien basierend, anspruchsvoll edierten Notengraphik, sowie einem informativen Nachwort.
